(Neb)-Gov, First Lady Looking To Honor

By: John Axtell Posted at: 06/11/2019 11:20 PM
LINCOLN, Governor Pete Ricketts and First Lady Susanne Shore have launched an initiative to recognize Nebraskans who performed extraordinary acts of bravery in service of their communities during this spring's floods and blizzard.

The Governor and First Lady are inviting Nebraskans to nominate a "flood hero" online by visiting www.nebraskaimpact.com/flood-heroes. Flood hero (#FloodHero) nominations will be reviewed and honorees will be selected for recognition later this year.

Ricketts says they want Nebraskans to share stories of selfless service and heroic deeds so those men and women who stepped up during "the most widespread natural disaster in state history" can be honored properly.

First Lady Shore says many "flood heroes" worked overtime, risked their personal safety, and generously contributed their time and money to give aid to their communities, but that too few people know the "stories of the heroes in our midst" who deserve official recognition for their service.
