(Wyo)-Nichols Looking Forward To New Challenges
LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Outgoing University of Wyoming President Laurie Nichols says she's come to grips with her forced departure and that her new job as interim president at Black Hills State University in Spearfish will be a great transition for her.
The UW Board of Trustees unexpectedly decided in March not to renew Nichols' 3-year contract, providing no specific reason for the decision.
Nichols tells the Laramie Boomerang she's "honestly quite OK" with what happened but she's not ready to step out of a leadership role.
She'll start her one-year run as interim president at Black Hills State on July 1, one day after her final day at Wyoming, and she says will look at moving on to other opportunities in the Mountain West region after Spearfish.
Her husband just accepted the job as head of the Honors College at the University of Montana in Missoula..
