(Neb)-"Paint The Town" Underway In Chadron Listen
An outside-the-box downtown beautification project - Paint the Town - started today as painting began on a mural in what organizers hope will become an Art Alley.
Chadron Chamber of Commerce Director and Paint the Town steering committee member Gabby Michna says the plan is for volunteers to paint murals on the back walls of buildings along the alley in the 200 block between Main Street and Chadron Avenue.
Up first, starting today, is a mural on the west wall of Bloom. Michna says the Paint The Town committee has worked with store owner Corrie Brennan in designing the mural.
Michna says Paint the Town is designed so that everyone can take part, whether they have any experience - or talent - as a painter with everyone invited to come and help - or just watch - anytime today through Sunday from 9:30-3:30.
The painting today and Sunday will be done by adults, but Michna says special arrangements have been made for a Kids Day tomorrow with the painting to be done by youngsters - again, 9:30-3:30.
MIchna says the goal is to have the Bloom mural done by the end of next weekend and one on the Service Barbershop wall in time for Fur Trade Days just over a month from now.
Michna hopes the first two murals will encourage other owners to offer their walls for painting and other artists to submit plans for future projects.
