(Neb)-125 Horses And 150 Riders Reach Chadron On Crazy Horse Ride Listen
CHADRON - Today is Day 2 of the 22nd annual Crazy Horse Ride from Fort Robinson State Park to Pine Ridge. Founder and organizer Bam Brewers says today's route is northeast out of Chadron to the Pine Ridge Reservation.
Yesterday's trip from Fort Robinson to Chadron was generally along Highway 20 with temperatures well into the 80s much of the way before arriving a little after 8:30.
The relative lateness of the arrival meant the hoped-for crowd to welcome the riders was small, but still clearly supportive.
Founder and organizer Bam Brewer says going through Chadron has always been one of the high points for most participants and gave him one of his fondest memories of the event honoring Crazy Horse and veterans - being thanked by a veteran for the Ride at the end of a very trying day.
The Crazy Horse Ride attracts riders of all ages with teens and children making up a wide majority of the nearly 150 participants on 125 horses who rode into Chadron last night.
Tomorrow will be a day of rest on the reservation with the ride ending Thursday in Pine Ridge at the 29th annual All Veterans Gathering and Pow Wow, which runs through the weekend.
