(Neb)-City, CSC Renew Campus Resource Officer Deal For 3 Years Listen
The Chadron City Council has approved a new interlocal agreement with Chadron State College to continue the Campus Resource Officer police position for another 3 years.
The school and city have had the joint position for the past decade. The officer is based at the college 10 months out of the year, but available to the city as needed by the police department in response situations and fulltime during the summer. CSC pays salary and benefits during the 10 months of the school year.
Police Chief Tim Lordino told the city council Monday night the new interlocal agreement is virtually the same as the current one, which has worked well for both sides.
CSC vice president for enrollment management, marketing, and student services Jon Hansen told the council in a letter that the Campus Resource Officer is "an essential element for campus security."
Hansen wrote that the college is "pleased with the success and growth of the position and appreciate the willingness of the city to partner in this critical area.
