(Neb)-BRAN Traveling From Gordon TO Cody Today
GORDON - Today is the second day of the 39th annual Bike Ride Across Nebraska - BRAN for short - as the 425 or so riders travel from Gordon to Cody as part of their 7 day route from Chadron to Fremont.
This year's ride is titled "A Tale of Two Trails," which director Doug Scherlie says reflects the fact that the riders have the option for about half the trip of going on Highway 20 or the unpaved Cowboy Trail.
Riders have 3 options: going the whole distance, riding for the first 4 days, or riding only the last 3. Scherlie says most riders are staying to the end with the 4-day option the next most-popular
About a thousand riders, BRAN staff, volunteers, and their families spent Saturday night in Chadron, nearly all of them camping at Chadron State College on the lawn around the student center. While many arrived on their own, many rode buses provided by BRAN from the Omaha.
