(Wyo)-UW Trustees Name Finalists For Acting President
LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - The University of Wyoming named 3 finalists, all in-house candidates, to serve as acting president while the school searches for a permanent successor to Laurie Nichols, who is joining the UW faculty after the trustees declined to renew her contract.
A 6-member trustees committee selected the finalists for acting president. They are: former UW VP for governmental and community affairs Chris Boswell, former vice president for finance and administration Bill Mai, and current finance VP Neil Theobald. .
Trustee Macey Moore says the board will meet in executive sessions next week to interview all 3 with UW Staff Senate President Renee Ballard and Faculty Senate Chairman Ken Chestek invited join the board. The trustees plan to vote for the acting president next Friday.
In related story, Nichols says she's staying in Laramie for at least the coming year even though her husband, Tim Nichols, will become dean of the University of Montana's honors college in July.
Tim Nichols led the South Dakota State University honors college from 2008-2016, when his wife was provost at SDSU.
Laurie Nichols tells the Laramie Boomerang she has no plans yet to take a job at the school in Missoula, Montana.
