(Neb)-Man Arrested After Incident At Chadron Community Hospital
CHADRON -A Chadron man faces weapons and assault charges following an incident Thursday while he was a patient at Chadron Community Hospital.
The 59-year old Richard Mann is free on personal recognizance on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and 3rd degree assault on a healthcare professional.
Chadron Police Chief Tim Lordino says officers responding to an abandoned 911 call from the hospital were told that Mann had physically harmed one of the nursing staff.
Later in the morning, Mann began talking to hospital staff about a gun he claimed was in his pocket. Officers responded again and seized a concealed loaded revolver in Mann's pants pocket. Mann was later arrested immediately after being released from the hospital.
Chief Lordino says the type of behavior shown by Mann is "completely inappropriate" in a hospital, explaining that "health care professionals are there to help and have additional protections under Nebraska State Statutes," so they don't need to be subjected to that type of behavior.
