(Neb)-Lawsuit Accuses I-80 Convenience Stores Of Misleading Gas Signs
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A Lincoln judge has taken under advisement a lawsuit accusing 6 convenience stores along Interstate 80 of posting misleading signs about prices.
North Platte-based Wilkinson Development is accused of violating the Nebraska Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act and the Nebraska Consumer Protection Act.
A nonjury trial was held last week in the February 2017 lawsuit filed by several individuals and the Coalition for Ethical Petroleum Marketing, and the judge is waiting for written closing arguments before handing down a verdict.
The suit says Wilkinson advertised low prices to attract travelers to its Fat Dog stores but limited that price to just a few pumps, intentionally hoping travelers accidentally filled up with more expensive fuel. The company president has denied the accusation.
