(Neb)-Foundation Pledges $500K Toward Flood Recovery
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A Nebraska charitable foundation has promised to match the first $500,000 donated to a new recovery fund for Nebraskans affected by March flooding.
The Ethel S. Abbott Charitable Foundation has joined the Nebraska Community Foundation to establish the Nebraska Flood Recovery Fund, with priority to be given to those who want to remain in their damaged communities.
The Flood Recovery Fund will issue grants to local and regional charitable organizations for eligible uses that may include housing, transportation and health and wellness.
Community Foundation President and CEO Jeff Yost says an advisory committee is being assembled to oversee the program and make decisions for grants "that are high impact and supportive of projects and programs that are sustainable long term."
