(Neb)-Medical Episode During Fitness Training Claims Guardsman
BROKEN BOW, Neb. (AP) - A member of the Nebraska Army National Guard died Saturday from an unexpected medical episode during routine fitness training in Broken Bow.
29-year-old Staff Sgt. Trevor Kurtzhals of Lexington was an 11-year veteran of the Nebraska Army National Guard whose service included a deployment to Afghanistan in 2010. Gov. Pete Ricketts says Kurtzhals' service to Nebraska and the country won't be forgotten.
Kurtzhals was at the National Guard armory in Broken Bow as part of the Guard's 1075th Transportation Company when the undisclosed medical episode occurred. He died later at the Broken Bow Hospital.
