(Neb)-Chadron Couple Free On Bail Awaiting Preliminary Hearing
CHADRON - A Chadron couple is free on bail for multiple felonies including drug, weapons, and child abuse counts. Makael Howard and Janna Davis are scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Dawes County Court on June 5th.
Court records show a tip and investigation led to a search warrant raid April 4th on the couple's home that led to the seizure of methamphetamine, marijuana, and firearms including a sawed-off shotgun.
Howard and Davis were both arrested on charges of drug possession, possession of an altered firearm, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and intentional child abuse not resulting in injury.
The child abuse charges stem from the fact that two children were living in the house and could have easy access to drugs and guns.
Police say meth and meth pipes were found in a duffel bag on the floor of a bedroom and pipes as well as lying in the corners of a home office while a total of 12 guns were in an unlocked gun safe.
