(Neb)-Chadron Comm Hospital Gets $500K Grant For X-Ray Upgrade Listen
CHADRON - Chadron Community Hospital and Health Services has been awarded nearly $500,000 from the Helmsley Charitable Trust for a state-of-the-art portable x-ray machine and 2 radiography rooms.
Chadron is one of 50 rural hospitals in the Upper Midwest sharing $14.2-million dollars from the trust to upgrade their x-ray technology.
Chadron Community Radiology Director Jodi Danner says the new technology allows the hospital to fulfill its mission of providing the highest quality care to patients.
Danner says the new equipment will be better for the patients by reducing the wait time both to get x-rays taken and read, and by using a lower dose of radiation for the images.
Danner says the upgrade is something she and hospital officialsl have been discussing for sometime, but because it wasn't an urgent need it was lower on the priority list. That made getting the outside funding from the Helmsley Trust even more exciting.
Danner says the equipment has already been purchased and should arrive for installation by the end of the month, beginning with the portable X-ray unit.
The hospital has 2 X-ray rooms and one will continue with the current equipment while the other is upgrade, then it will be upgraded as well. Danner expects the new system to be fully up and running about 3 weeks after the conversion begins.
