(Neb)-Chadron Man Arrested After Downtown Slashing
CHADRON - A Chadron man was arrested Friday following a slashing during a downtown assault. 27-year old Richard Reyes is being held on $100,000 bond on felony charges of 2nd-degree assault and using a weapon to commit a felony.
Chadron Police Officer Chelsey DeBerg says police were called to a downtown bar about a nearby assault and found a man bleeding from the head. The man and witnesses said he'd been slashed by Reyes, who was known by both the victim and the witnesses.
DeBerg says a box cutter believed used in the stabbing was found after a brief search a short distance away in an alley while Reyes was soon located at his apartment several blocks away.
A search warrant was obtained for the apartment and officers seized clothing, boots, and a cell phone. Reyes was then taken into custody.
