(SD)-Man Charged With Dragging Deputy In Dispute With Snow Plow Driver
South Dakota authorities say a Black Hills man was arrested after his vehicle dragged a Meade County Sheriff's deputy who tried to intervene in a dispute between the man and a snow plow driver Thursday night in Black Hawk.
Meade County Sheriff Ron Merwin says Deputy Branden Torres responded to a call that 24-year old Dyland Vandierendonck of Black Hawk was blocking the plow because it was making drifts in his driveway.
Merwin says Deputy Torres was gathering information about the incident and beginning a field sobriety test when Vandierendonck got back in his vehicle and tried to drive away. Torres was able to let go after a short distance, but was taken to the hospital where he was evaluated and released.
Vandierendonck was later arrested at his home a short distance away and charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, driving under the influence and aggravated eluding.
