(Neb)-Power Out At CSC For Over 7 Hours Thursday
CHADRON - The Chadron State College campus was without electricity for over 7 hours Thursday, but the cause has not yet been announced.
Director of College Relations Alex Helmbrecht says the power went out around 3:00 pm with crews from Nebraska Public Power District working until after 10:00 to restore electricity to the residence halls.
Helmbrecht says the combination of a relatively warm day and residual heat in the dorms no special arrangements were made for the students.
A few buildings on campus including Miller Hall, which houses the IT department and main computers, and the Nelson Physical Activitity Center have auxiliary power and provided students a refuge of sorts if needed..
Evening activities on campus, including the Community Choir rehearsal, were cancelled with no electricity, but Helmbrecht says Chadron State will be back to its usual schedule Friday.
