(Neb)-Senate Recognizes NU 150th Birthday Listen
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Senate has unanimously passed a resolution recognizing the 150th anniversary of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Senators Deb Fischer and Ben Sasse sponsored the resolution with Fischer taking the lead on the floor remarks.
Fischer. a UNL graduate, praised the academic and athletic successes of the University, which has over 25,000 students and 5,000 new graduates each year with more than $2 billion dollars in annual economic impact for Nebraska.
Both Fischer and Sasse said that by staying true to its roots, UNL remains a national leader in water, agriculture, and rural development research, helping to transform what was once called "the Great American Desert" into one of the greatest agricultural exporting regions in the world.
