(Neb)-Chadron Public Library Receives Makerspace Grants
CHADRON - The Chadron and Kimball public libraries are among 9 across the state selected for the second round of hosting a program, "Nebraska's Library Innovation Studios: Transforming Rural Communities," that gives them 6 months use of equipment to creat a makerspace.
The Nebraska Library Commission was awarded a $531,000 National Leadership Grant for the Innovation Studioes partnership program that turns local libraries into makerspaces for creative and entrepreneurial projects - using technology and education for residents to create, learn and invent.
When the program began in 2017, 18 libraries were selected and another 5 will be named later this spring.
Chadron and Kimball are also among 12 libraries in the program that have received 2019 internship grants to hire interns to work with library patrons on learning how to use the makerspaces.
