(Wyo)-No Injuries In Forced Landing Of Small Plane
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) - A Heber, Utah, family escaped harm when their small plane ran out of fuel Monday evening and made a forced landing in a snow-covered field in a remote area of southwest Wyoming near Rock Springs on a flight home from Nebraska.
The Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office says the family that included 2-year-old twins and a 2-week-old infant had left Wayne and planned to refuel at Rock Springs, but ran into a strong headwind that caused the plane to use more fuel than expected.
The pilot, the father of the family, was able to land the plane undamaged about 3 miles from the airport around 5:45. The family, whose name has not been released, was rescued by a helicopter about three hours.
