(Neb)-Northwest Comm Action Sets Up Fund To Help Furloughed Fed Workers Listen
CHADRON - Northwest Community Action Partnership has started a Government Shutdown Assistance Fund for the families of local federal government employees furloughed or working without pay during the shutdown.
Community Action Human Resources Director Brooke Smith says a local church that wishes to remain anonymous provided the seed money to help with the basic essentials of food, fuel and personal necessities, but more donations - which would be tax-deductible - are needed to activate the fund.
Smith says there isn't a specific target amount of donations being sought, just enough that help can start going out just as soon as possible - hopefully before the end of the week.
Donations, which again can be cash or gift cards, may be left at the Northwest Community Action Partnership offices at the corner of 3rd and Pine in Chadron. Donations may also be made online via Community Action's website.
