(Wyo)-Liz Cheney Asks For Her Pay To Be Withheld During Shutdown
WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP) - Wyoming's lone U-S House member says she won't collect her pay over the duration of a partial shutdown of the federal government.
Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney said in a letter to the chief administrative officer for Congress that it's not appropriate for members of Congress to continue to be paid during the shutdown, so she asked for her pay to be withheld for as long as it lasts.
The shutdown comes amid a dispute between President Trump, supported by many congressional Republicans, and Democrats over funding for a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, voted for the border wall funding.
