(Neb)-Norfolk Firm Apparent Low Bidder For Dawes County Bridge Listen
CHADRON - Norfolk Contracting of Norfolk, Neb, is the apparently low bidder to install a new bridge on West Dakota Junction Road, a Dawes County road west of Chadron. Norfolk's bid of just under $159,000 was almost $30,000 less than the only other bidder, Fuller Construction of Chadron.
County Road Superintendent Larry Hankin says the new bridge will be an upgrade on an important ag road.
Hankin says Norfolk Contracting's bid was a solid one, about $8,000 more than the last engineers' estimate but well under the original estimate.
The county and the project engineers will review both bids over the next two weeks for possible errors, then make a recommendation to the commissioners for action at the board's first meeting in December.
