(Neb)-New Inmate At Scotts Bluff County Jail Dies
GERING - An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday on a Scottsbluff man who died Friday after being arrested and taken to the Scotts Bluff County Jail.
County Attorney Dave Eubanks expects preliminary autopsy results on 23-year-old Corey Green fairly quickly, but says toxicology results will probably take a couple of weeks.
Court records show Green was taken into custody on an arrest warrant shortly before 3:00 Friday afternoon by Scottsbluff police and escorted to the County Detention Center, where he was booked.
Eubanks told KNEB News an ambulance was later summoned to the jail to take Green to Regional West Medical Center, but that he died. Eubanks said it's unclear at this point of the investigation if Green died in the ambulance or after reaching the hospital.
Under Nebraska law, a grand jury investigation is required whenever someone dies in or during the process of being taken into custody. Eubanks said he's currently putting together an investigative team from outside agencies that will prepare the report used by the grand jury.
