(SD)-First Night Prelim Winners At Miss SD/Miss SD OT

HOT SPRINGS, S.D. -The Miss South Dakota and Miss South Dakota's Outstanding Teen Pageant continues Friday night at the Mueller Center in Hot Springs with the second night of preliminary competition for the Miss contestants and the finals for the Outstanding Teen hopefuls.

       There are 8 young women 13-to-17 years old hoping to win the crown and a chance to compete at the 2018 Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant which will be held in Orlando, Florida July 24-28.

       The field includes 17-year old Jessica Benson of Rapid City as Miss Hot Springs' Outstanding Teen, and Miss Christmas in the Hills' Outstanding Teen, 15-year old Payton Steffensen of Yankton.

   Thursday night, Miss Mitchell Outstanding Teen McKenzie Norton took the fitness award, while at the Miss level, Miss State Fair Carrie Wintle of Iroquois - who hold a master's degree from Vanderbilt - won a $500 scholarship as the preliminary talent winner with a piano solo and Miss USD Heather Egbert of Vermillion - a recent USD graduate - was the preliminary swimsuit winner to claim a $250 scholarship..

     This is the final year Hot Springs will serve as the host for the Miss South Dakota Pageant  Tickets are still available for Friday night's Miss preliminaries and Teen finals, but Saturday night is sold out.

      The annual Pageant Parade through downtown Hot Springs is Saturday morning at 10:00 with all the contestants taking part.
