(Neb)-SD Demos Pick AG, PUC Nominees

By: John Axtell Posted at: 06/15/2018 11:34 PM
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota Democratic Party convention in Pierre has picked the party's nominees for attorney general and the Public Utility Commission.

The AG race between former U-S Attorney Randy Seiler and former Oglala Sioux Attorney General Tatewin Means was the main event for the delegates and Seiler was the choice.

A former Rosebud Sioux Tribal Council member was the pick to run for the Public Utilities. 39-year-old Wayne Frederick of Todd County beat party activist John Schmidt of Woonsocket. Frederick says he would stand up for landowners' rights and natural resources.

PUC chairwoman Kristie Fiegen is expected to win nomination for another term when the Republican Party holds its convention later this month. The GOP will pick its nominee for attorney general at that time as well.
