(Neb)-Chadron Beginning Sewer Maintenance
CHADRON - The city of Chadron is beginning its annual summer maintenance program on its sewer system. Because of the cost, only a portion of the city is done each year and this year it's the western half of Kenwood, sewer lines between North Chadron and North Pine.
Utilities superintendent Tom Menke says the work had been tentatively scheduled to start Monday, but was pushed back until Tuesday. Alleys may be closed in the specific blocks when the maintenance program reaches them.
Menke says crews use a camera inside the sewer lines to detect blocked or damaged areas, then dig down to repair damaged areas or use a high-pressure jet to clear out blocks. He expects it to take about 2 weeks to check all the lines in the planned maintenance area.
