(Neb)-Crazy Horse Riders Reach Chadron
Crazy Horse Ride 2016
CHADRON - The 21st annual Crazy Horse Ride from Fort Robinson State Park to Pine Ridge is underway with some 150 riders arriving in Chadron a little before 8:00 Monday night
The ride, which honors both veterans and its namesake legendary Sioux warrior, will end Thursday in Pine Ridge at the 28th annual All Veterans Gathering and Pow Wow, which runs through the weekend.
Ride founder Bam Brewer says the event draws riders from around the world, thanks to interest from the internet and especially You-Tube. Some riders will make the entire trip while others will ride shorter segments.
The ride organized Sunday night at Fort Robinson, left the Fort Monday morning, stopped for lunch in Whitney, and spent Monday night at the Dawes County Fairgrounds in Chadron.
Tuesday's ride is from Chadron to the Beaver Valley area, the traditional land of Crazy Horse. The riders will then take a day of rest in Beaver Valley on Wednesday before heading on into Pine Ridge on Thursday.
