(Neb)-CSC Commencement Ceremonies At 8 AM And 10 AM
CHADRON - The spring semester at Chadron State College comes to an end this morning with a pair of commencement ceremonies to award 369 degrees, 122 graduate degrees in an 8:00 ceremony in Memorial Hall and 247 bachelor's degrees at 10:00 in the Chicoine Center.

The featured speaker at the graduate ceremony will be Education Professor Dr. Patti Blundell while retired longtime CSC professor and administrator Dr. Lois Veath Podobnik will speak at the later ceremony.
Dr Blundell is a Dawes County native who had been a nutrition educator and grade school teacher before joining the CSC faculty in 1986.
Dr Podobnik retired in 2012 after more than 30 years at the college, a career that included position as Science faculty, Department chairm, Dean, and Vice President of Academic Affairs.
The 1993 Nebraska State College System Teaching Excellence Award winner, she also spent 19 years as director of the college planetarium, which was named for her last year.
The 10:00 commencement will also including the commissioning of two Chadron State Army ROTC cadets as 2nd Lieutenants. Jerrick Bowers of Gering will serve in the Medical Services Corp of the Nebraska National Guard while Justyn Curtis of Richmond, Indiana, is going into the Field Artillery.
Visitors to the 10:00 exercises are asked to use parking lots south of Old Admin and east of the softball field if they are able to walk to the Chicoine Center since approximately 35 parking spots are temporarily unavailable due to Elliott Field/Don Beebe Stadium construction.
