(SD)-Rapid City Federal Magistrate Now Fulltime Position

By: John Axtell Posted at: 04/09/2018 10:08 PM
RAPID CITY, S.D. - The federal magistrate judge in Rapid City has moved from part-time to fulltime status. Daneta Wollmann began an 8-year term on April 1st after having filled the part-time position the last 3 years.

There is one magistrate judge in each of the federal courthouses in Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Pierre and Aberdeen.

District Court Chief Judge Jeffrey Viken says the Judicial Conference of the United States, the national policy-making body for the federal courts, authorized the change because of the district's unusually heavy criminal caseload.

Wollmann is a graduate of Purdue University and the University of South Dakota School of Law who was a state and federal prosecutor as well as in private practice before becoming the Rapid City magistrate in March 2015.
