(Neb)-Third Debussy Piano Recital At CSC Sat Afternoon Listen
CHADRON - Chadron State College assistant professor of piano Dr Brooks Hafey is giving a free recital this afternoon at 3:00 in Memorial Hall to wrap up the spring portion of his series of 5 recitals covering all 29 of the solo piano works of French composer Claude Debussy this weekend.
Fellow CSC music faculty member and pianist Bobby Pace says Hafey's latest recital honoring the centennial of Debussy's death includes one of his best-known and most-loved works - Claire de Lune.
While Debussy is best-known as a Romantic composer, Pace says his style went well beyond that type of music - resulting in his being one of the most influential composers of the early 20th century.
Pace also says many Debussy's piano pieces are virtually unknown to the general public, so Hafey's recitals are probably the only chance most local residents will ever have to hear some of them.
