(SD)-Pine Ridge Res Man Pleads
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A Pine Ridge Reservation man has been charged with lying to federal authorities and being an accessory after the fact in the slaying of his nephew last year on the Reservation.
45-year-old Nathaniel "Thomas" Waters of Allen has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The FBI says Waters lied about his whereabouts October 16th when his mobile home caught fire and the body of his nephew Ray Waters Jr was later found inside the burned home.
An autopsy concluded that Ray Waters died before the fire of injuries likely caused by an ax. A juvenile is charged with 2nd-degree murder in his death.
