(Neb)-United Way Northern Panhandle Campaign Tops Goal Listen
CHADRON - United Way of Western Nebraska serving Box Butte and Dawes Counties easily topped the $88,000 goal for its 2017-18 fund campaign, which ended a little over a week ago..
Director Karen Benzel says the nonprofit group raised $94,125 or 7% over the goal, which she feels was exceptionally good, given the relatively soft economy for the two counties.
$84,000 or almost 90% of the total was raised in Box Butte County, which means United Way will be able to do a lot more there than in Dawes County since the money stays in the county where it was raised..
Benzel isn't disappointed Dawes County raising just under $10,000; in fact, she's excited about it because this was the just the second United Way campaign in the county.
Last year, 11 non-profits in Box Butte County and 2 in Dawes County received funds from United Way including DOVES, CAPstone and Northwest Community Action Partnership.
Benzel says those hoping for funding from the next campaign need to get their applications in quickly because the deadline is 4:00 Monday afternoon.
The forms are available at the United Way Serving Box Butte and Dawes Counties website and she encourages representatives of any non-profit interested to call her for more information.
