By: John Axtell Posted at: 01/04/2018 03:35 PM
GERING - A Gering man awaiting trial for burglary now faces additional charges for allegedly trying to intimidate a witness while both of them were behind bars in the Scotts Bluff County jail.

36-year-old Joseph Gonzales is charged with Witness Tampering and Assault by a Confined Person without a weapon.

Court documents say that one of the witnesses subpoenaed to testify against Gonzales for the burglary was in the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center on unrelated charges and that when Gonzales learned that, he arranged for other inmates to assault the witness on at least 2 separate occasions in an attempt to discourage him from testifying.
