(Neb)-Ft Rob Christmas Dinner Tickets Go On Sale At 8 AM Mon
FORT ROBINSON STATE PARK - Tickets go on sale Monday morning at 8:00 for the 23rd annual Fort Robinson State Park Historical Christmas Dinner Saturday, Dec. 2, in the Buffalo Soldiers Barracks. The doors will open at 6:00 and the meal will be served 15 minutes later
This year's dinner will use the actual menu for the Christmas dinner served at the Fort in 1939, when Fort Robinson was a quartermaster remount depot producing horses and mules for the military. On the menu are turkey, pork loin, oyster soup and an array of sides and fixings.
The evening also includes live music and historical commentary. It's not required but guests are encouraged to dress in 1939 attire.
Only 200 tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis by cash or check at the Fort Robinson State Park office, the Chadron Chamber Visitors Center, or Herren Brothers True Value in Harrison. Because of the high demand, there is a limit of four tickets per household.
The Fort Robinson Christmas dinner is a cooperative project of various entities, including Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, the Nebraska State Historical Society, and the communities of Crawford, Chadron, Harrison and Whitney.
Adding to the event's festive atmosphere will be the park's holiday lights, which will be turned on just prior to the dinner and stay lit each evening until January1st. Groups interested in decorating a building at the park can contact the park's office at 308-665-2900 or ngpc.fort.robinsonnebraska.gov.
