CHADRON - The Dawes County Entrepreneur and Leadership Training Academy (DELTA) class of 2017 held their final event Wednesday May 10, 2017. Nine participants were treated to a luncheon with their respective sponsors or colleagues and received completion certificates from Vice Mayor Miles Bannan.

Those attending the class this year include: Sharon Housh and Kelly Garza from Office of Human Development, Tyler Woodard from Northwest Community Action, Amy Hawk from First National Bank of North Platte, TJ Rutledge from NPPD, Kristina Harter, Northwest Nebraska Tourism, Tena Cook, CSC, Cesar Barazza of Wahlstrom Ford, and Emily Hinman from First National Bank of Chadron
The members of the class each shared their favorite ‘take away’ from the 6 sessions which were held monthly from October through April. The group also were required to select plan and execute a community project.

This year the class chose to provide additional labor (along with the CSC wrestling team) to clean up and refurbish the landscaping at the city parking lot in the 200 block of Chadron Ave during the Big Event. More than 75 hours of work were donated to the event.
Other highlights included the two-day trip to Lincoln, NE to visit the Governor’s residence, capital building, meet with Senators and observe the Legislature. They were able to meet with and get to know members of the Leadership Scottsbluff Class, riding to & from Lincoln on a motor coach with them.
At the luncheon, the sponsored shared the fact that more than half of them were also graduates of the program or its predecessor, Leadership Chadron.
NNDC hosts and coordinates the class with attendees paying a registration fee to participate. The class will be looking for participants again the end of summer for the 2017-18 class.
