(Neb.)-Weekend Accident Near Hay Springs Sends Six To Hospital
(Hay Springs)-An accident Sunday afternoon south of Hay Springs sent several people to the hospital. According to the Nebraska State Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 3 pm just two miles south of Hay Springs.
The Patrol reported that a 2005 Chrysler mini van, driven by Dean Heise of Kansas was southbound on Highway 87, when a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by Ashley Agler of Hay Springs, pulled out onto the highway after stopping at the junction of County Road 440 and the Highway. The van then struck the pickup. Several of those involved were not wearing restraints.
According to the Patrol, both of the drivers were wearing restraints, as was the front seat passenger in the pickup, but three other passengers in the van were unrestrained, and a 10-year-old boy was thrown from the vehicle. All six of those involved in the accident were transported to either Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance or Chadron Community Hospital. The conditions of the injured parties are unknown.
Both of the vehicles are considered to be a total loss. Troopers Harris and Downing responded to the call.
