(Neb.)-City Of Chadron Reminds Residents Of Cemetary Regulations

By: Jeremy Anderson Posted at: 04/15/2013 04:41 PM

(Chadron)-With the season of spring upon us the City of Chadron would like to remind citizens of the rules and regulations regarding Greenwood Cemetery and encourage all residents to come and pick up any decorations from the winter season as soon as possible! Although amenities such as shepherd hooks, solar lights, hanging baskets and statuary are attractive, they pose a problem in the day-to-day maintenance of the cemetery.
Therefore, to ensure the safety of the public and City staff, these items are not allowed. Many of the decorations placed on graves can become projectiles if hit with a string trimmer or run over with a mower. Other types of decorations make it difficult to maintain the area around them and eventually deteriorate, becoming unsightly.
Planted flowers, floral arrangements, or ornaments of any kind shall not be allowed to be placed on the grave during the mowing season. Exceptions are during a funeral and three days after; and three days before Memorial Day and three days after.
For more information, contact Scott Schremmer, Park/Cemetery Superintendent, 308/432-0530; parks@chadron-nebraska.com
