Charles Mack passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wood River, Nebraska.
Charles, the son of Gerry and Marie Cammenzind Mack was born July 30, 1933 on his parents ranch six and one-half miles south of Harrison.
Charles grew up on the ranch south of Harrison, attended school at district #31 and later graduated from Sioux County High School in 1951. Some of his memorable achievements were in FFA in which he earned the State Farmer Degree and then in 1953 received the American Farmer Degree.
He was married to Edith Buckley on June 22, 1952 to which three sons were born, Gerry 1954, Chuckie 1957 and Steve 1958.
They continued to live on the ranch until 1956 whereas moving to Denver where he attended the Barnes School of Commerce for a degree in accounting. Later moving to Scottsbluff and was employed by Gilman Motors.

In 1959 the family purchased and moved to the Lake Ranch located in the Glen community.
Charles was always active in the community his contributions included: Boy Scout and 4H leader, school board, and ASCS committee. Some of the leisurely activities he enjoyed were horseshoes, baseball, playing cards and watching his sons in high school wrestling.
Charles was not short of a few tragedies in his life, beginning with the loss of his mother and the age of five and his dad at 14. In 1957 he suffered the loss of his infant son Chuckie.
Another traumatic incident was in 1969 when he lost an arm in a farming accident, however he was a good sport about it in later years, even so much as to go with his grandson Jordan to kindergarten show and tell so he could show the other kids his grandpa’s artificial arm, they loved it!
Charles sold the ranch in 1983 retaining the building where he lived; he enjoyed visiting with people and attending church. In July 2011 because of failing health he moved to Prairie Pines assisted living in Chadron, and then he moved to Good Samaritan in Wood River where one caretaker described his as being a ray of sunshine.
