07/22/2013 - Kay Anne Curtis- Announcement

Funeral services for Kay Anne Curtis, of Guthrie, OK, formerly of Chadron, NE will be Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 10:30 AM at First Southern Baptist Church, Guthrie with Pastor Van Hudson of Abell Community Church officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, July 16, 2013 from 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM.
Memorials may be made to Camp JOY Building Fund, 6700 West CR 75, Guthrie, OK 73044 or Gideons International, P.O. Box 54, Guthrie, OK 73044.
Kay Anne (Eleson) Curtis was born July 17, 1957 in Chadron, NE, to Floyd and Fern (Hawthorne) Eleson. She attended a rural school, Dist. 49, from first through eighth grade. She attended ninth grade at Chadron Middle School. Her remaining high school years were spent at Chadron High School, from which she graduated in 1975. She then attended Frontier School of the Bible in LaGrange, WY, for three years, graduating in 1978. It was while she was at Frontier that she met her future husband, Dan Curtis. They were married May 25, 1979 at the Berean Fundamental Church in Scottsbluff, NE. Children born to this union are Ginger, Candi, Tim, and Charity.
In 1980, Dan and Kay moved to Guthrie, OK, filling the position of area missionaries with American Missionary Fellowship. Kay assisted her husband in his position as director at Camp JOY Bible Camp, acting as head cook for over thirty years. She taught Sunday School classes and played the piano at the Meridian Community Church which Dan pastored since its beginning in 1984. She also played the piano and taught a children’s class at the Potter Church on Sunday evenings twice a month. Kay home schooled each of their children from kindergarten through high school. She enjoyed helping and providing for their family, canning and freezing as many as 600 quarts of fruits and vegetables a year.
Kay went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2013.

Children: Ginger Hofmann and husband, Marty, of Guthrie, OK; Candi Doolittle and husband, Mark, of Guthrie, OK; Timothy Curtis and wife, Mia, of Guthrie, OK; Charity Curtis of Guthrie, OK.
Mother: Fern Eleson, of Whitney, NE
Brothers: Duane Eleson and wife, Teckla, of Whitney, NE; Ken Eleson and wife, Barb, of Brighton, CO; Kevin Eleson and wife, Laurie, of Spring Creek, NV.
Sister: Bonnie Eleson, of Whitney, NE.
Granddaughters: Keziah Hofmann, Kaye Lyn Curtis, and Tirzah Hofmann
Grandsons: Justin Doolittle, Ezekiel Hofmann, Shane Doolittle, Jax Curtis, Boaz Hofmann, and Lazarus Hofmann.
Nieces & Nephews: 45
Many relatives and friends.
Kay was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy (Eleson) Gilbert; her father, Floyd Eleson; her twin sister, Kathy Scott; and her husband, Dan Curtis.
Smith-Gallo Funeral Home of Guthrie, OK is in charge of arrangements.
