Evelyn Serbousek passed away at her home at Sunrise in Broomfield, Co. after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease on June 30, 2013.
Evelyn was born on December 27, 1931 to Arthur and Bertha Benda. She lived on the family ranch south of Chadron, attending Chadron Prep, Chadron State College and teaching in rural schools for several years. In 1952, Evelyn married Don Serbousek. After a brief time in the Wyoming oil fields and working as a ranch hand, Don and Evelyn decided to move back to the ranch south of Chadron and raise their family. During this time, Evelyn was involved in gardening, her extension club and helping on the ranch. They moved to Chadron in 1996, where Evelyn remained until 2006. Evelyn enjoyed meeting friends for coffee and playing cards. She moved to an assisted living facility in Lafayette and later to Broomfield, Colorado where she could be nearer to her son and his family. She enjoyed many of the outings and activities that were offered at her residence.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Don, parents, and grandson, Adam. She is survived by 3 children Judy (Karl) Hinman of Richardson, TX, Joyce (Cliff) Clippinger of Woodinville, WA, Gary (Amy) Serbousek of Lafayette, CO, and 9 grandchildren.
Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
