04/22/2012 - Mildred Joyce Hardy

Memorial services for Mildred Joyce Hardy, 78, of Hay Springs will be Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 2:30 PM at the United Methodist Church in Hay Springs with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating.
A memorial has been established for the Hay Springs, Chadron, or Alliance Libraries. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Drabbels Mortuary, PO Box 443, Hay Springs, NE 69347.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren.
Mrs. Hardy passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Box Butte County Hospital in Alliance, Nebraska. She was born on July 13, 1933 in Colby, Kansas to James Robert Messamore and Genevieve (Wheaton) Messamore.
Mildred graduated from Colby High School. Later, she received the Bachelor of Science degree in teaching at Chadron State College in 1983. Joyce taught at Hay Springs Schools for 15 years, where she taught many classes, including, Business, Accounting, Typing, and Journalism. She loved her students and was very passionate about seeing them become successful.
She was married to Sgt. Donald Neil Hardy, which allowed them and their five children to travel around the United States and overseas. Joyce loved reading, collecting teddy bears, the Dallas Cowboys, and Michael Jordan. She took great pleasure in her family, Church, and traveling.
Her survivors include her children, Barbara (David) Vancil of Hay Springs, Beverly (Steven) Summers of Hay Springs, Robert (Joyce) Hardy of Chadron, Lorri Dunsmore of Seattle, and Jennifer Ponce of Alliance; grandchildren, Keesha Longwolf and Delsin White Magpie, Jeff and Aaron Summers, Shannon (Summers) Oborny, Johannah and James Hardy, Jessica and Sarah Dunsmore, and Emilio, Luciano, and Miguel Ponce; great grandchildren, Emily, Hailey, and Cora Summers, April Hardy, Alex and Damian Hardy, and Hailey and Quentin Hallsted; Brothers, Jerry (Florene) Messamore of Colby, Kansas, and Bill Messamore of Dickinson, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings Kenneth Messamore and Doris Trueblood.
Chamberlain Drabbels Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
