(Regional)- State Basketball Starting In Neb., S.D., & Wyo.
(Chadrad Sports)- State basketball tournaments begin in Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming today.
The Panhandle was shut out of the Nebraska boys state tournament this year, with the closest participants coming from Cody-Kilgore and Mullen in Class D2 and Ogallala in Class C1. Mullen is trying to defend last season's title, but will do so without head coach Rusty Moore who is battling recently diagnosed brain cancer. For the Cowboys it's their first appearance at state since 2003, while Ogallala hasn't been in Lincoln since 2004.
Belle Fourche and St. Thomas More are the top two seeds in the South Dakota Class A girls tournament in Watertown, SD with St. Thomas More looking to defend last years title and the Douglas girls and Newcastle boys are the only teams East of I-25 to qualify for the 3A state tournaments this weekend in Wyoming.
