(Neb.)- Chadron To Meet Arlington At State Softball
(Chadron)- Coming off of their first district title in 14-years, the Chadron High softball team will face Arlington in the first round of the Class C State Softball Tournament on Wednesday in Hastings.
Arlington won the C-2 district title with a 6-2 win over Wahoo Bishop Neumann on Saturday to clinch their third trip to the state tournament in their school history.
The Lady Cardinals meanwhile are also making their third trip to state in school history, but haven't been in the field of eight since 2005. That season Chadron went 1-2 at the Class B state tournament picking up their only tourney win in school history 2-1 over McCook.
Chadron goes in to the state tourney with hot bats, hitting 17 doubles, 9 homeruns, and scoring 60-runs in the C6 district tournament. Dana Dunbar went 15-for-17 for an .882 average over the five games in districts. Kylee Garrett was just as impressive going 14-for-18 with five home runs. The five home runs match her regular season total and now make her the career home runs record holder at Chadron High with 28.
First pitch for Wednesday's game is scheduled for 8:00 a.m MT and can be heard on Stereo AM 610 KCSR and chadrad.com.
