(Neb.)- Chadron Opens C6 Softball Tournament With Big Win

By: Jeremy Anderson Posted at: 10/05/2017 01:07 PM

(Chadron)- The Chadron High softball team pounded out 14 hit including back to back home runs by Madi Hamar and Dana Dunbar to cruise to a 13-2 win over Ord in the C6 District softball tournament on Thursday.

The win moves the Lady Cardinals into a winners bracket game against Southern Valley-Alma at 9:00 a.m on Friday morning.

After holding Ord scoreless in the top of the 1st inning, Chadron pounced for 6-runs in their half of frame as Hamar, Dunbar, Kylee Garrett, Micah Stouffer, Peyton Underwood, and Hannah Kennel all came home on RBI singles.

The Lady Chants grabbed two runs back in the top of the 2nd on a Janessa Grooms double, but those were the only two runs that Ord would score.

Chadron kept the bats hot in the bottom of the second on a walk, a double, and a trio of singles, that brought across four more runs. The exclamation point came on back to back home runs by Hamar and Dunbar, Hamar's a two run shot, and Dunbar's a solo home run.

Micah Stouffer came in relief in the top of the 4th after a quiet third from both teams and fittingly sat down the final batter by strikeout.

Chadron's game on Friday will be played at 9:00 a.m and can be heard on AM 610 KCSR and Chadrad.com.
