(Neb.)- Senior Nationals Earn Top Seed In B7 Area Tourney

By: Jeremy Anderson Posted at: 07/17/2017 01:43 PM
(Chadron)- The Chadron American Legion First National Bank North Platte Senior Nationals will be the number one seed at this weekends B7 Area Tournament in Gering when the postseason play begins on Friday.

The Senior Nats are coming in riding a four game winning streak after dominating tournament play in Laramie last weekend.  Chadron collected wins over Wheatland, Laramie, Rock Springs, and Green River by a combined score of 40-5.

The Seniors Nationals will put up their 27-18 record against a winless Morrill squad at noon from Oregon Trail Park.  Chadron is 3-0 against Morrill this season with every win coming by eight or more runs.

In the opposite side of the bracket, 2nd seeded Gering will meet Sidney, and 3rd seeded Alliance faces Ogallala.  The Winners of those two games will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday while the winner of Chadron and Morrill will play the loser of Alliance and Ogallala at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.  The loser of the Chadron/Morrill matchup will meet the loser of Gering and Sidney at noon on Saturday.

The B7 Area Tournament will earn two spots in the Class B Senior Legion State Tournament as Alliance gets the automatic berth as the host team.  The champion or, should Alliance win the tournament, the runner-up will snag the other bid.

With the way the state bracket is set up this year, Alliance and the other B7 Area tournament would meet again in the first round of the state tournament.
