(Neb)-FNB Juniors Fall To Alliance At B7 Tournament
OGALLALA - The Chadron American Legion First National Bank North Platte Junior Nationals fell to the Alliance Spartans 12-2 yesterday in the 5-team double-elimination B7 District Tournament in Ogallala, dropping the Nationals into the elimination game bracket.
Top-seeded Alliance took an early lead with 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st and made it 5-0 with 3 in the 3rd. The Nationals cut the margin with 2 runs in top of the 4th, but the Spartans got a run back in the bottom of the inning, then ended the game on the mercy rule with 6 runs in the 5th inning.
Alliance outhit Chadron13-6 and collected 3 extra-base hits to one for the Nationals...all doubles. Colton Olsen had 2 of Chadron's hits, including the double, and drove in 1 run. Trevor Berry and Sam Rischling scored the runs for the Nationals.
Alliance is now 5-0 against Chadron this season, winning the last 3 by margins of 9, 9, and 10.
The Nationals are back in action today at 2:00 against Ogallala, who eliminated Sidney yesterday 14-2. Ogallala beat Chadron in their only meeting this year, taking a 13-12 victory at the North Platte Tournament, the Nationals' 5th game of the season.
Tonight's winner stays alive and will play tomorrow night against the loser of today's winners bracket game between Alliance and 2nd-seeded Gering, who edged Ogallala 6-5 in 14 innings Friday night.
The championship game will be Tuesday, with a second game to follow immediately if the previously unbeaten team loses.
