(Neb)-Gorsuch Places 3rd At DII Championships
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Chadron State senior Tessa Gorsuch placed 3rd in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.49 seconds at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala, this afternoon.
Gorsuch, who also had the 3rd-fastest time in qualifying with a school record 8.47, couldn't quite keep up in the finals with winner Altoniece Williams of Minnesota State-Mankato, last year's runner-up, who edged Pittsburg State's Courtney Nelson 8.37 to 8.38.
A 2013 Rapid City Central graduate who has the 2nd-fast time in the 100-meter high hurdles in South Dakota girls history, transferred to Chadron after spending her freshman year at the University of Northern Iowa.
She qualified for the Indoor Championships her first year with the Eagles, but hit a hurdle in prelims and did qualify, then sat out last year with an ankle injury.
