(Neb.)- Fourth Quarter Effort Guides Cardinals To Tourney Title
(Chadron)- An 18-6 fourth quarter advantage for the Chadron boys basketball team helped the Cardinals overcome early turnovers to down Spearfish 55-44 in the championship of the George Watson Rotary Classic.
Keagan Shuck and Brendinh Sayaloune provided an offensive punch for the Cardinals all night long teaming up to score all 14 of Chadron's first quarter points, but was not enough early on as the Spartans held a 17-14 1st quarter lead.
Chadrons's offense quieted off in the 2nd quarter to allow Spearfish to snag a 28-22 halftime lead.
Behind a boost from Joe Matt in the third quarter, the Cardinals were able to tear away at the Spartan lead to trail 38-37.
Sayaloune finished the night with 19-poinnts, while Shuck added 17.
Joe Matt had a career high 12-points. Mike Gieseler scored 3 points, and Jeff Cerney and Marcus Fernandez made a basket each.
Chadron is now 4-5 on the season and will face Gothenburg next Friday in Sidney.
