(Neb)- Chadron Rotary Holiday Tournament Gets Underway Thurs
The Chicoine Center at Chadron State College hosts the Chadron Rotary George Watson Holiday Tournament this Thursday and Friday.
The action starts Thursday at 2:00 with the Hemingford and Spearfish girls, followed at 4:00 by the boys from those schools. Then its Chadron versus Valentine, the girls playing at 5:30 and the boys at 7:00. Spearfish won both titles last year.
Friday's schedule is complicated by the fact that the Chadron State men and women are both home that night against Fort Lewis.
As a result, the high school action begins in the morning with the girls consolation game at 10:00, followed by the boys' consolation at 11:30.
The girls championship is set for 1:00 followed boys championship at 2:30...but the last 3 could all start later depending on how long the games ahead of them take.
That, in turn, could push the college games a little later, depending on how long they might run over and how long the college women's teams would require for warmups.
Last year's results don't offer a lot to go on for this year's Holiday Tournament with most of the 8 teams losing heavily to graduation.
Both Spearfish teams have just 1 win, the Chadron boys - last year's runnerup - are 2-5, the Hemingford boys are 2-3, while the Valentine boys are 1-5 and their girls 1-6.
Only the Chadron and Hemingford girls come in with winning records. The Lady Cardinals are 4-3 after opening the season 0-2 while the Lady Bobcats are 4-1, losing only to Mitchell.
Per-day admission for the Chadron Rotary George Watson Holiday Tournament is $5 for adults and $4 for both students and senior citizens.
