(Chadron-KCSR)- The FNB North Platte Nationals Post 12 Juniors earned a spot in the Class B Area 7 Championship game by defeating Alliance 8-7 on Sunday afternoon. They will play Gering.

As the only unbeaten team left in the tournament, FNBNP Post 12 awaits the winner of Gering and Alliance who will do battle tonight at 5 pm in an elimination game.

The championship is scheduled for Tuesday at 5:00 p.m., with the if necessary game to follow.

The FNB North Platte Nationals began the tournament Saturday afternoon by defeating valentine 10-4 in a game that was much closer than the score. Colby Ellis threw 7 innings for the Nats and proved to be very effective as he struck out 8 Valentine hitters.

The Nationals then defeated Ogallala 10-1 in Saturdays night cap at Maurice Horse field. Michael Gieseler earned the win on the mound in relief of Cody Ray. The FNB North Platte Nationals Post 12 Juniors defense was exceptional in the contest as Ogallala only managed 4 base runners from the 2nd through the 7th inning.

Sundays semifinal contest with Alliance proved to be the game of the tournament thus far.

Trailing 7-4 in the bottom of the 5th, the Nationals plated 4 runs to take an 8-7 lead. Braden Honstein contributed with a 2 RBI single and Cody Ray also came up clutch with a 2 out RBI base hit.

The FNB North Platte defense held Alliance scoreless in the 6th and 7th to seal the victory and earn a spot in Tuesdays title game. Mike Gieseler picked up the win on the mound after pitching the final 3 innings of the contest.

Jayden Stack started the game and kept the Alliance hitters off balance through the first 4 innings.

The tournament concludes Tuesday evening at Maurice horse field with the winner advancing to the state tournament in Aurora on July 19.
